Katie + Justin | married!

Maureen + Mike | engaged!

Mike thought of absolutely everything when orchestrating his proposal to his longtime girlfriend, Maureen.  He designed her ring [which fit her perfectly, due to some more thoughtful planning on his part], planned out a spectacularly beautiful view, and even brought both of their families out for dinner, arriving just after she said ‘yes.’  Oh, and he had me come and spy on them, and grab photos of the moment without Maureen even suspecting anything.  What a great guy :)

This was my view from a cottage at Boone Valley Golf Club, the perfect spot to get the shots, since he had planned on proposing on the putting green right out front.

It’s so gorgeous there!

Here they come!

my heart was beating so fast; I can’t imagine how nervous he must have been!

At this point I came out of the cottage and grabbed some more shots, while they were still in their happy delirium ;)

love.

such a great-looking couple!

Congratulations Maureen & Mike!!!

______________

also, after talking with them and learning they were guests at Courtney & Eric‘s wedding on New Years Eve, I checked my files and it turns out I took a photo of the two of them at the reception!  Fun!  Love stuff like that :)

Erica + Chris | engaged

Erica and Chris are in the middle of planning their St. Louis wedding long distance from Chicago, but from what I can tell they’re doing a fantastic job. It sounds amazing so far :) I met up with them last weekend in their lovely city [and, may I add, one of my favorite cities ever].  And, true to form, Chicago threw us a weather curveball; even though it’s May and St. Louis was boiling hot, it was about 55 degrees, cloudy, and misty.  They just rolled with it, broke out jackets and sweaters, and rocked it!  I’m in love with pretty much all of these photos :)

we headed back to their apartment for a quick outfit chance, and miraculously [and even more curveball-like] the sun came out!

Love these.  And I’m jealous of Erica’s gorgeous hair :)

love these!

Thanks guys so much for giving me an excuse to visit my favorite city!  Can’t wait for September!

Natalie | newborn

One of the best parts of my job is staying in touch with brides and grooms, and being there to document the next chapter of their lives. Laura and Pat, who were married in April of 2010, just welcomed their first daughter Natalie!  I met up with them last week to meet the little lady :)

she’s really tiny :)

such a cute face!

“hi.”

love this one!

we of course had to get one with their first ‘child’ Gooby; he did so good!  Natalie wasn’t digging it though…  still cute :)

and now, my favorite part, crying face, and funny faces.  LOVE funny baby faces :)

“YEAH!!!”

Thank you, Pat and Laura, for inviting me to photograph her at her tiniest!  Congratulations!!

Birkley | 9 months

I’ve been photographing Birkley since she was a tiny newborn, and she’s now 9 months old! See her as a newborn, and now look at how big she’s gotten! Sitting up like a champ :)   We met up last week in between bouts of rain, and took advantage of some nice warm weather:

[I dare you not to yawn.  just about every time I would look at it while editing I yawned.]

so cute :)

love the one on the right; such a sweet face!

of course I had to get a few of Maya :)

a treat of yummy animal crackers at the end [I'm totally in love with her crazy curly hair :) ]

Marjorie + Aaron | married

Marjorie and Aaron‘s marriage started off stormy [um, literally, not figuratively.  they're both happy as can be :) ] as they were married this past Saturday.  The skies opened up in true midwestern form, and pelted the city with hail and more rain that we knew what to do with.  No worries though, the whole day was filled with smiles and warmth, the way a wedding should be. It was beautiful.

I started the day off [pre-rain] with Marjorie and her lovely ladies at Concordia Seminary, where the ceremony was to take place.  And of course I had to start with the shoes [how could I not?!  It's a wonderful way to start the day, so it's a wonderful way to start a blog post.]

The couple chose to do a first look, which was ultimately a huge blessing [ya know, since later that afternoon the monsoon hit and all]

they’re so cute together ;)

I love all of these!  that cool tree just made everything so dreamy [well, and Marjorie and Aaron help out a bit :) ]

__________________________________________________________

time to get married!  perfect timing too – we just had felt a few drizzles when it was time to go get ready for the ceremony.  Serendipitous :)

love these two :)   rain on the wedding day and they’re still all smiles!

we headed over to their home, so he could carry her over the threshold – so cute :)

Then.  I walked out to my car so I could head over to the reception, and in just a few minutes the skies darkened and the sirens went off.  Sheesh. [the pics below were taken between 6:10 and 6:30pm]

storm of doooooom.   [don't worry, I didn't take this one.  Tracy took it from the passenger seat.]

yeah, so that’s hail.  which is scary loud in a car.  we were lucky and didn’t get pelted by the golfball-sized hail, it was more gnocci-sized [I came to this description while thinking 'it's not quite pea-sized, but bigger than marbles...gnocchi!' you can tell where my head is at most of the time.  food.]

Though we had a deluge of rain, the reception inside of the 9th Street Abbey was in full swing and full of happy faces!

The End!  Congratulations Marjorie & Aaron!!

Oliver

Oliver’s mom and dad got married in 2008, and I was there to document that day. Fast forward a few years and I was lucky enough to be able to document the next step in their lives, their new baby, Oliver.  I love this part of my job; the relationships built are a wonderful perk :)

he’s such a cutie!   [and I almost stole this blanket.  it's gorgeous]

this one’s definitely my favorite – that little smile is so cute!

love love love the joy in his face on the right; he definitely loves mom :)

the dumptruck is so cute, and he was a trooper and humored us for a while.  but thennnn……

he let us know that the shoot was over ;)

Thanks Alisa & Mike for having me to photograph your new bundle of joy!  Congratulations!

Hurst Family

I’ve photographed the two youngest members of the Hurst family, and last Sunday I met up with them for a big shot of everyone! Right in the midst of the spastic weather we had on Sunday: rain, clouds, sun, rain, sun, clouds, clouds, etc.  But they were all amazing and we got all of the great shots we needed!  It probably helps that every member of the family is gorgeous…

Joan and her pile of sons…. though I don’t think Kai was that into it:

so he left.  the boy’s got things to do!

Drew and Stella.  Love these :)

Elena + Chris | maternity

Elena and Chris are expecting their very first baby in a few months! I met up with them on Sunday to celebrate Elena’s ridiculously adorable baby bump. I met them at their home, to take some pics in their very cute nursery.

That’s Bob, their very sweet beagle [I sort of have a soft spot for beagles.  no idea why...]  Had to get some shots of him too!  Oh, and Elena – you’re GORGEOUS.

time for a quick outfit change to something equally as stunning, and a quick hop over to the Botanical Gardens!

love love love the one on the left; they’re just so cute together :) [and I love that she wore heels the whole time. my kind of girl!]

favorite of the session.  hands down.

Thanks so much you guys for having me document this last little bit of pre-baby you!  Can’t wait to meet the little guy!

Betsey | class of 2012

I love photographing high school seniors: life, personality, and anticipation to take on life. Betsey is no exception, and I was charmed by her grace, humor, and self-assuredness. She and her mom drove from Branson, MO to meet me partway in St. James, MO, which turned out to be quite the perfect location for a fun shoot!

[um, so obviously I couldn't get enough of her violin.]

LOVE these in the alley; the light was just gorgeous!

and of course I had to get a few shots of Betsey with her mom; something I don’t get to photograph enough of :)
